Steeped in a rich tradition, some 500 graduates
strong, the Washington County Leadership Development
Program, Inc. is expanding and now has
five
very separate
and distinct
programs. |
 |
Leadership Washington County (formerly
known as Leadership Hagerstown). For
senior level executives, it starts with a weekend
retreat followed by nine months of intensive community
orientation and involvement. |
 |
Student Leadership Washington County,
is done in partnership and cooperation with Hagerstown
Community College. This program uses the Phi Beta
Kappa model for leadership studies and brings high
school seniors together with selected college students
in a nine-month course of study that encourages community
involvement. |
 |
After graduating from the Leadership Washington
County program, participants are encouraged
to become active and lifetime members of the Alumni
Association. Benefits of membership include
a monthly e-newsletter, invitations to special
events, networking activities, a speaker series,
news of board openings and other opportunities
to remain connected and committed to community
service. |
 |
Access Washington County is designed to
help CEOs (and their spouses), who are new to the
area, get better acquainted with the community that
is Washington County. Hosted by leaders in business,
government and other organizations, the program provides
introductions to key decision makers and other contacts
needed to help a new CEO or Executive Director “hit
the ground running.” |

Effective boardsmanship is the key to successful
non-profits. Now more than ever, nonprofits must
elevate themselves to a higher standard of accountability – in
terms of finances, operations and outcomes. The performance
of non-profits is critical the success and strength
of our community. Just like a for profit business,
non-profits can go from Good to Great by taking
advantage of seminars and workshops sponsored by
Leadership Washington County – and by recruiting
program graduates for board membership. |
